HOW MUCH DOES COUNSELLING COST

The cost of each session is £50 for 50 minutes and is payable by cash, cheque or bank transfer. The cost of counselling is an investment in your most priceless resource – your long term happiness.

HOW DOES COUNSELLING DIFFER TO TALKING TO A FRIEND

Sometimes we need to talk things over with somebody other than family and friends. They may have their own ideas of what is best for you. Whilst they are important in terms of supporting you during times of stress, it can be hard for them to step back and be objective.

I am somebody who is separate from the rest of your life. I will remain impartial and non judgemental and I will listen to the whole story without being hurt or o!ended and I can help you explore the best solution for you.

I am a qualified professional with experience of working with people in great distress. I will be empowering, compassionate and insightful. A good friend will be caring and supportive during difficult times.

Having both of us in your life is win – win.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW

Therapy is not a magic formula. For it to truly work it requires investing time and a commitment in yourself, working hard, a willingness to open up on subjects that may be painful and not be embarrassed about what you may be feeling.

Counselling is about valuing yourself. The gym is for a healthy body, therapy is for a healthy mind.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED

People grow, heal and change at different paces. Therapy can last anywhere from one session to several months or even years. It depends on what you want and need.

The process proceeds largely at your pace but therapy works best when you are ready and committed to making yourself and your needs a priority.

IS EVERYTHING I SAY CONFIDENTIAL?

Yes, confidentiality is paramount. I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and I am bound by the BACP’s ethical framework for good practice. Only in extreme cases, such as risk to human life or a child’s safety or disclosure of acts of terrorism (1989) would any contact be made with third parties.

I also hold a current enhanced DBS certificate.

Please consult my “PRIVACY” notice for more details on confidentiality and how I keep your information safe.

WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP?

I can appreciate how difficult it can be to engage in counselling for the first time or with a new counsellor. Therapy works best when you feel connected and safe so I want to make sure that I am the right therapist for you.

The first session will include an initial assessment so that I can understand the issues you wish to explore and what you hope to get out of counselling.
